On 11-25-02 between 6PM and 6:15PM, a young female was walking alone near Delaware and 9th Avenue in Longview.  The female was contacted by four subjects riding in a red four-door passenger car with a black stripe across the top of the car.  The vehicle had a black leather type back seat and seat covers with a leopard design on the front seats.  The female was told to get into the vehicle and when refused was forced into the vehicle.  The female was able to escape after a few minutes.

On August 15, 2002 at about 11:45PM, the victim pulled to the side of the road, to drop off a couple of friends, in the 500blk of 15th Avenue. A white Honda Accord pulled up behind the truck.  Two suspects exited the Honda and approached the victim.  One of the suspects pointed a pistol at the victim and demanded his wallet and truck keys.  The suspects fled with the victim’s truck.  The truck was later recovered, unoccupied, in Columbia County, Oregon.  The suspects are described as Hispanic males, late teens or early twenties.

Sometime during the night of 11-7-02, someone entered a fenced storage area at Specialty Rents and Events located at 1170-15th Avenue and stole a John Deere riding lawnmower and a loading ramp.  The riding lawnmower is described as being green in color, a yellow 48 inch mower deck, and equipped with a black front tubular bumper.  The model number is LX288.  The loading ramp is black in color and made of square tubular steel with plywood over the top of it.  The ramp also has "SRE" painted in yellow on it.

On October 27, 2002 at about 7:30pm, a drive-by shooting occurred in the 200blk

of 21st Avenue.  A dark colored 4-door Honda drove by a residence and a passenger fired approximately 6-8 shots at a residence.  The shooter was described as a white male, 16-20 years old, wearing a gray sweatshirt pulled over his head.  The shooter had brown hair and no facial hair.

On October 17, 2002 just after midnight, three subjects forced their way into the victim’s home located on Davis Rd in Castle Rock.  The suspects held the victim and the victim’s son against their will and stole several items from the home.  One of the suspects was referred to as “Chris” by one of the other suspects.

On October 7, 2002 around midnight, several subjects broke a large glass window at the Texaco Station located at 3115 Ocean Beach Hwy.  The subjects stole Washington Lottery Tickets and cigarettes.  There was a substantial amount of blood coating left on scene believed to belong to a subject who likely sustained a good size cut from the glass.  A similar burglary occurred at the same location on August 13, 2002 around 2:00am, where a subject was observed breaking a glass door and stealing beer.  Both burglaries are believed to be related.

On Sunday, October 27, 2002 around 11pm, three males broke into a residence in the 200 block of Douglas Street, Longview.  They were described as being two white males and one Hispanic male, who were younger in age (eighteen to twenties).  The victim reported that the suspect males were armed with a very large knife and a baseball bat.  The victim reported that the three males ordered him out of his bed and into the living room.  During this time, the victim was able to break away from the three suspect males and flee the residence.  The three suspect males fled the scene prior to police arrival.

   On Monday, January 28, 2002 at approximately 9:00 PM, a black male was leaving the 15th Avenue Safeway after making a purchase.  Two white males in their early twenties confronted him in the parking lot and demanded his money and wallet.  After obtaining some property from the victim, one of the suspects stabbed the victim in the forearm with a knife.  The two suspects then fled the scene on foot.

On 6-15-02 at approximately 1:20 AM, a shooting occurred at Bart's Restaurant in Longview during an attempted robbery of two victims who were outside of Bart's.  The suspect is described as being a white male, 24-30 years of age, 230-250 pounds in weight, stocky build, clean shaven, wearing a dark baggy coat, red baseball cap, and corduroy shoes or slippers.  The suspect was observed getting into a white older model 70-s or 80's, 2-door vehicle, possibly with a vinyl top covering 1/2 of the roof of the vehicle.

On Sunday, 5-26-2002 at around 2:00am, three young men were leaving a residence in the 300 block of SW 7th in West Kelso.  As the three were entering a vehicle, a dark colored Ford Explorer pulled up and stopped nearby.  As a man exited the Explorer, he pulled a handgun and began shooting at the three men and their car.  After striking two of the men with gunfire, the man re-entered the Explorer and fled the area.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early twenties, 5’9 – 6’0, with short, medium brown hair, and a slight to medium build.  He was last seen wearing a light colored T-shirt and jeans.  The suspect vehicle is described as an older “boxy” style Ford Explorer or similar vehicle in good shape with tinted windows, and described as black, brown, or maroon in color

On Monday, 04/01/2002, The House of Roses was the victim of a robbery and theft.  Around noon a white male wearing a hooded, zip up sweatshirt, brown gloves and navy blue jeans entered the business and demanded money.  The male was further described as being about thirty years of age, approximately six feet tall, and having an average build.  The male suspect did not display any weapons.  The male confronted an employee and demanded money.  The male was given an undisclosed amount of money.  The male suspect then fled the area.

 On 4-13-02 during the early morning hours, Market Place on Commerce Ave. was robbed by a lone suspect.  An undisclosed amount of cash and other items were taken during the course of the robbery. 

It is unknown if these robberies are related.

On 4-09-2002 at approximately 10:00 PM, a Kelso resident was assaulted and robbed in the 900 block of Allen St.  During the robbery, the victim’s bicycle was stolen, as well as various other personal items, most noticeably, a black and yellow backpack.

 After the robbery, the suspect rode the stolen bicycle to Bumper's restaurant where he engaged in an argument with an employee.  Longview Police responded and chased the suspect to the 600 block of Peardale where the suspect abandoned the bicycle and fled on foot.

On 1-2-1992, Carl Dwayne Morgan (31 years of age) was convicted of Rape of Child 3rd Degree.  Upon his release from jail, Mr. Morgan registered with the Sheriff's Office as a Sex Offender.  On 01-18-2001, Mr. Morgan listed his address in the 400 block of N. 50th in Longview.  Mr. Morgan moved out on 3-6-2001 and has not notified the Sheriff's Office of his change of address.   Mr. Morgan is required by law as a sex offender to notify the Sheriff's Office whenever he changes his address.  Mr. Morgan is a level II Sex Offender and is a moderate risk to re-offend.  Currently there is a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Morgan for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  The current whereabouts of Mr. Morgan are unknown.

At approximately 6:30 PM on March 2, 2002, someone entered an apartment in the 1500 block of 3rd Ave., assaulted and robbed the victim.  The suspect had been inside the apartment when the victim arrived from work.  The victim received substantial injuries and had to be treated at the hospital.  The suspect wore a mask and wore light colored jeans.

On December 4th, 2001at around 10:00 PM, an unknown suspect armed with a small caliber pistol robbed the Subway shop at 4503 Ocean Beach Hwy. 

The lone employee at the store described the suspect as a white male in his twenties.  The suspect was between 5’6 and 5’10” tall with a think build.  The suspect wore a heavy black coat and a red stalking cap that he pulled down to eye level.  The employee recalled that the suspects face was “chunky”. 

During the robbery, the suspect handed the employee a bag to place the money into.  The employee said the bag was about 8” by 16” in size and was light blue in color.  The bag appeared to be made out of a material that resembled “synthetic rabbit fur”.  

During the robbery, the employee characterized the suspect’s demeanor as calm.  After robbing the business, the suspect fled the area on foot in a westerly direction.

HE HAD SHORT BLOND HAIR, CUT ALMOST LIKE A MILITARY STYLE AND WAS CLEAN SHAVEN. SHE STATED THAT HE HAD BLACK SWEATPANTS ON AND WHITE RUNNING SHOES THAT WERE DIRTY.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office investigated four commercial and one residential burglary on August 28, 2000 in the Kelso, Kalama, and Woodland areas resulting in over $33,400.00 in loss and damage. It is believed that the crimes occurred over the weekend of August 26-27, 2000 and that they may be related. The victims are:

Kelso

DeRosier Trucking Inc. at 3627 Pleasant Hill Road lost an estimated $400.00 worth of hand tools from their locked storage trailer at this commercial location.

Stordahl & Sons Inc. at 950 Carroll Road lost an estimated $9,000.00 worth of equipment from their locked storage facility at this commercial location. Missing items include a new air conditioner just installed in a rock crusher; hand & power tools; computer system; refrigerator; undisclosed amount of cash; a cot & blanket; a printing calculator. It appears suspect used an ATV to gain access to the location.

Kalama

AT&T (Telephone) commercial site on Elevator Drive (near the grain elevators) lost an estimated $15,000.00 worth of equipment. Missing are a trailer with a gray Yamaha 350cc ATV with an AT&T logo on the side; 3 generators; 2 metal detectors; a 3" water pump. Suspects cut a 7 foot tall chain link fence to enter the compound.

Woodland

Peter Kiewit Construction lost an estimated $6,000.00 in equipment and vandalism at their Kuhnis Road location. Forced entry to a locked construction trailer gave access to power tools and a 2 way radio system.

Residential Burglary: At 2225 Dike Road the resident reports that someone entered his fishing boat and removed an estimated $3,000.00 in fishing gear.

On 08/13/00 at approximately 0440 a.m., A black female, who was delivering newspapers for the Daily News, was driving her vehicle in the area of 28th Avenue and Florida Street, Longview. The female began noticing that she was being followed by a full size brown Ford Bronco with a male driver. The male was described as a white male in his 20's about six feet in height with a medium build, shaggy brown hair and wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. At the intersection of 28th Avenue and Florida Street, the male rammed the female's vehicle with his Ford Bronco. While inspecting the damage to her own vehicle, the female was attacked by the male who threw her to the ground. The male then took a large club and stood over the female in a menacing posture. Before the man could further assault the female, another vehicle drove into the area. The female reported that the male observed the approaching vehicle and made a racial statement towards her. The man then got into the Ford Bronco and fled the scene..

On 6-29-00, Longview Country Club, #41 Country Club Drive reported a burglary. They stated that sometime between 8:30 p.m. on 6-28-00 and 7:30 a.m. on 6-29-00 someone broke into Garage B, where member's golf carts were stored.

Approximately 10 or 11 carts had been removed from the garage and driven around the course and the course itself sustained light damage from being driven on carelessly. He also said that at least three of the golf carts sustained minor body damage during the incident as well. The report does not list the names of the individual members who were victims. There are no suspects or investigative leads at this time.

 On 7-16-00 Mint Valley Golf Course reported a vandalism complaint. The superintendent pointed out to the officer that somebody made a forced entry into the range door after prying off the padlock. It appeared that three golf carts had been used because they were still wet and had been damaged. The range itself had been damaged, apparently by one or more of the golf carts striking pieces of the building
frame. Further inspection also revealed that an irrigation controller had
been damaged by the vandals. There are no suspects or investigative leads
at this time.

During the daylight hours on June 5, 2000, unknown persons entered a residence on North Ridge Drive, located in the Twin Lakes addition in west Longview. Unknown person or persons entered the residence and stole numerous collector-type rifles and handguns. Jewelry and silverware were also taken. It is believed that entry was made through an unlocked door in the residence. An older "beater" 1980's style brown Ford Bronco was seen leaving the Twin Lakes area during the early afternoon. The owner of this vehicle is unknown.

On May 16, 2000, at approximately 9:45 AM, Cowlitz County Sheriff's Deputies
were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle fire in the 3800 block of Dike Rd., Woodland. When they arrived they discovered that someone had driven a bladed Caterpillar machine through a stand of cottonwood trees at the end of Robinson Rd., using some junk vehicles as ramps to drive it onto the bed of a stolen boom truck. The bed of the boom truck was severely damaged. The truck, with the Cat loaded on the bed, attempted to drive under the train trestle near I-5 southbound at Exit 22. The vehicle struck the trestle with part of both vehicles and broke off part of the boom. The Cat was also knocked off the boom truck, landing on it's side in the roadway. The boom
truck continued south on I-5 to exit 21, trailing the torn up bed and about 20' of cable. The truck drove down to Dike Rd. and out into the woods where it was set on fire.

At about 7:50 AM a passing motorist observed smoke and a small red 90's pickup with two males. Leaving the area. A partial license number similar to 42609 was observed on the red truck.

Both damaged vehicles were owned by Berry P.W. Commercial, Inc. from Portland. Damage was estimated at $100,000.00.

On February 18, 2000 the Longview Police Department investigated a felony hit and run accident that occurred in the 3800 block of Ocean Beach Highway at about 6:30 p.m. At that time an 11 year old Longview boy was attempting to cross Ocean Beach Highway when he was struck by a white late model Suburban that was heading west in the outside lane. Witnesses stated that the driver, an Asian female in her 40s, stopped at the scene of the accident, but refused to identify herself or stay at the scene long enough for police contact. The victim sustained injuries to his face, back, neck and arm. 

On February 1, 2000, at 6:40 a.m. a resident in the 3900 block of Rosewood St.,
Longview, reported that two subjects had just stolen two rifles from his garage. He said that shortly after 6:00 a.m. he opened his large garage door to go outside to retrieve the newspaper. When he went back inside he turned the light off in the garage but didn't shut the door. At about 6:30 a.m. he was reading the paper when he heard a noise in the garage. He went outside to investigate and saw the silhouettes of two young men standing in the garage. The young men fled on foot and headed west on Rosewood and then south on Oak. A few minutes later he heard a vehicle in the area, but doesn't know if it was involved or not. 

Taken during the burglary were two rifles that had been stored in a gun cabinet inside the garage as well as two baseball caps. One rifle was described as a 1925 or 1926 Winchester model 95 30.06 lever action rifle with walnut stocks and two sets of sights stored in a light blue padded case with dark blue trim. The second rifle was described as a 1917 British Small Arms model MKIII .303 bolt action rifle with dark wood stocks. The two baseball caps were both embroidered with company names: "Lane Drilling,"
and "Johnson Air Products."

The description of the first suspect is: white male adult, late teens/early 20s, 5'11, 180-190 lbs., brown hair, last seen wearing a tan and red or maroon jacket and dark colored pants. The second suspect is described as a white male adult, late teens/early 20s, 5'7-5'8, medium build, dark hair, last seen wearing a dark jacket and pants.

The Longview Police Department is hoping that somebody will recognize the rifles or the baseball caps.

On Sunday, January 9th, 2000, a lone white male entered Tim's Timber Tavern in Kelso and robbed the bartender. The white male was described as being approximately thirty years of age, six feet tall with a thin build and wearing a parka style blue and black coat and a dark baseball cap. The subject had dirty blond hair to the middle of his back and wore his hair in a pony tail. After drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette, he forcibly robbed the bartender of cash and checks that were stored in a gray zippered bank bag. He then fled on foot. A K-9 police dog tracked the subject to the Cowlitz River near Wood Avenue before he lost the track.

Sometime between October 1, 1998 and October 4, 1998, unknown person(s) set fire to a single floor, wood frame structure located about 15.5 miles east of the end of Kalama River Road.

The building belonged to Weyerhaeuser Company and was used by State Wildlife and Weyerhaeuser for research on forest impact. The building, which was about 20'x40' in size, was totally destroyed by fire. The property was surrounded by a 6' chain link fence, locked with padlocks to the front of the building. 

The cause of the fire was determined to be arson. A Weyerhaeuser fire truck that had been parked within the compound was taken down the road, driven off of a cliff and set on fire.

On 02-17-99, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a white male entered the Fibre Federal Credit Union located in West Kelso. The suspect handed a pre-written note demanding money from the teller. The teller refused and the suspect said, "Don’t be stupid lady", and reached towards his waistband implying that he had a weapon. An undisclosed amount of money was given to the suspect who left the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, blond colored hair, mid-20’s, 5’10", about 175 lbs., described as having a big nose and ears, wearing a worn denim jacket and denim pants with a camouflage colored hat. A photograph of the suspect can be viewed on KLTV.

Sometime between 7 pm and 8 am, on Friday night, November 19, 1999, unknown persons burglarized the Bunker Hill Fire Station. The suspects removed the hinge pins and then the door to the building. Once inside, the suspects took portable fire radios, a base station, pagers, a VCR and computer equipment. There were also some binoculars and a mobile radio taken. It will cost over $8,000.00 to replace this stolen equipment. Most of this equipment was less than a month old.

A witness reported seeing a mid-sized vehicle leaving the area at around midnight. Another witness mentioned seeing a large white cargo van parked on Ocean Beach at Bunker Hill late that night. It is unknown if either of these vehicles were involved in the Burglary.

On 11-09-99 just before midnight, two male suspects robbed the Subway located at 1328 Washington Way in Longview. The suspect’s entered through the front door and suspect #1 walked around the counter and held a small black pistol, as he demanded money from the clerk who had been counting it. Suspect #2 went behind the counter and to the rear of the business. Suspect #1 then took the money and fled with suspect #2 out the rear door.

Suspect #1 is described as a white male, unknown age, approximately 5’ 7"in height with a medium build. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with the hood up, a blue flannel shirt, baggy blue jeans with a scarf up over the lower portion of his face, and gloves.

Suspect #2 was believed to be wearing similar clothing.
