About Crime Stoppers of Cowlitz County

Crime Stoppers of Cowlitz County is a community program, operated by citizens,  which involves the public, the media and area law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.  It offers cash rewards and anonymity to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest of, and filing of changes against, felony crime offenders.  Crime Stoppers has been operating internationally since 1976 and has solved over 500,000 felony cases and has been responsible for the recovery of over 3 billion dollars' worth of narcotics and stolen property.  The Crime Stoppers International headquarters is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Crime Stoppers offers anonymity to all callers and will pay a cash reward up to $1000 for information that leads to an arrest and charge on all serious cases.

In spring of 1999 local law enforcement agencies saw a need for more citizen involvement to help lower crime in Cowlitz County. So they started the procedure to create our own Crime Stoppers program.  They started by organizing a board of directors that has taken up the cause by creating a tax exempt, non-profit corporation, fund raising and various committees to get the job done.  We need your help.

Some of the areas that would benefit from your help are:

  • Funding - Please donate generously.  Sometimes a monetary incentive is just what is needed to encourage the tips that law enforcement need to make arrests and find property.

  • Become a member of our Board of Directors or one of its many standing committees.  Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM.  Please call 577-1206 for the location.

  • If you are a member of a civic, social, or professional group, arrange for a Crime Stoppers presentation to your group.

  • Talk about Crime Stoppers to others.  Community-wide knowledge and support will assure the most effective program.

  • If you have any information concerning a serious crime, call Cowlitz County Crime Stoppers at (360) 577-1206.

If everyone does a small amount of work we can accomplish much.
