 How does Crime Stoppers work?

  • Tipster calls the phone number and doesn't have to give their name

  • Tip is forwarded to law enforcement

  • Law enforcement work the information

  • If an arrest is made based on the tip, tipster is eligible for up to $1000 cash

  • Tipster collects money from the bank

But more importantly, why does Crime Stoppers work?

  • Cash overcomes apathy--with the potential to receive up to $1000, the rewards can be great.

  • Anonymity overcomes fear of reprisal--by enabling the tipster to remain anonymous, there is no way that their name can be used against them by giving information to Crime Stoppers.

  • Good citizens make all the difference--when people call to report tips on a crime, or the identification of a suspect, they are doing a favor for all of Cowlitz County--to have less crime, fewer drugs, and a better place to live.
